Nowadays I find myself being more and more inspired by photos or movie stills. I like to take certain elements from pictures, especially high fashion photography or movie stills, be it the pose, theme, whatever inspires me. In order to not get too caught up in copying directly from a photo or screen capture, and also to reduce an image to very basic contours, I apply a few filters to any photo I use for reference. This way, the photo becomes a 'quick read' that I can use for observing the overall proportions & anatomical landmarks of a figure or creature.
